HPU has made some changes in it's programs such as cutting the cheer team from competing on a national level after having defended it's national title. The cheer team is one of the most successful sports program in HPU. Also language courses like Arabic is being removed next semester, other programs are at risk of being cut. Recently President Bannister held a town hall meeting announcing the planned expansion of housing units at the Aloha Tower but made no mention of the recent budget cuts. I believe that HPU needs to explain why they are increasing our tuition by nearly 1000 next semester and explain their reason in cutting HPU programs such as the cheer team competition. As HPU students we have a responsibility to voice our opinion on this subject without having HPU expect that they can do this without us HPU students having a saying on the matter. That is why I am requesting that President Bannister holds another town meeting before the end of the semester to explain the budgets cuts at HPU.
