Hate, Russian-style
In Russia, the number of violent hate crimes is rising at a disturbing rate. What's worse – there is a prevailing culture of impunity for those who perpetrate them.
President Obama will be meeting with President Medvedev at the U.S.-Russia Summit in Moscow next week – tell him that we cannot ignore these issues!

Tell President Obama to raise human rights issues with Russian President Medvedev!
Recent years have brought an explosion in neo-Nazi violence in Russia, spurring a wave of fear among minority and immigrant communities. What makes it worse is that victims and their families rarely find justice, as successful prosecutions of hate crime cases are infrequent and the few perpetrators who have been caught and tried usually receive lenient sentences, which further fosters the climate of impunity.
Now is our chance to change this disturbing scenario. Tell President Obama to raise the issue when he meets with President Medvedev next week at the U.S.-Russia Summit in Moscow.
The number of hate crimes is rising and human rights defenders are under threat – Russia must make a solid commitment to improving its human rights record. As Human Rights First travels to Moscow to participate in a civil society forum on the sidelines of the summit, we need your backing to empower our message to key policymakers!
