Has There Ever Been A Solution

The Issue

I have been Homeless for over 2 years. What I am trying to do is to take the Homeless off the streets and into jobs, through a step by step procedure. I would like two learn how to raise funds to start a thrift store. Do you have any advice for me to get started. My address is reach4salem@gmail.com

To Whom It May Concern:

Our main project is to get the Homeless off the streets

By becoming Productive with Their Lives

Since being homeless myself, I have learned how the Homeless think. Let’s assume all homeless people who have a government income want to live in affordable housing; this would only be a false statement. In reality most Homeless have an addiction of some sort, being drugs, alcohol or living it up, and choose to be Homeless to support their habit. Some of the Homeless are hiding from family, child support, shame or some other mental condition. All of the Homeless are subjected to a physical and, mental breakdown within two years.

All of the Homeless would like to stay warm and dry during the cold winter months. Those who say they want a warm place to come home with an addiction would be just a waste of time and money. The very first step that must be done is to get these people to rehab, AA meetings or a psychological exam. All of these institutions for “HELP” are already in place to help the Homeless for free, for those who are in need of help. The problem with this type of treatment never seems to go away.  The catch to the Homeless solution would be a warm day room in exchange for treatment. Shelter, Food, and a Support Group 24/7, all of these entities in one place is essential for recovery in the beginning.

Since we need a grant to start a thrift store we have been helping the Homeless Vets and non-Vets information where to get help. (Medical, Housing, Clothing, Sleeping Bags, Cigarettes, Places to eat for free. We provide a caring environment; advices, suggestion, if they ask, like personal help with the Bible, Rehab, AAA and suicidal thoughts.

Solutions to help the homeless

“Helping the Homeless step by step”

Each year you see more Homeless. How many times has the donation dollar really help a Homeless Veteran or any Homeless from receiving the help they need to overcome the reason why they are homeless in the first place? Shelters and Missions are good for 60 days and then you’re on your own.

The definition of a Homeless person is; vagabond, vagrant, drifter, beggar, hobo, bum, tramp, disgraceful and homeless. A person who does not an address where they live. Temporary and day shelters that you can pick-up mail or sleep at is not a place of residence.

Human beings are forced to live below animal standards, because the needs of a human are far greater then that of an animal. The Homeless do not live in a third world; they live in a “fourth world”, inside the United States of America. A third world nation allows the poor to live in their shacks. How could anybody with one or two sets of clothing, shoes with no transportation and facilities, no free place to sleep, be expected to keep clean and find a job?

Each year you see more Homeless. How many times has the donation dollar really help a Homeless Veteran or any Homeless person from receiving the help they need to overcome the reason why they are homeless in the first place?

The Homeless deserve a chance to become stable and, employed. The Homeless should have a place to live in each city with the minimum needs of a human, to camp harassment free. The Homeless should have the right to work, that can or will work. Without transportation provided by the City buses, during the hours of swing, graveyard sifts and, weekends the chances are very slim without transportation to get any type of interview or job that becomes available.

Most of the Homeless Men and Woman have mental issues that keep them from getting a job and, they should be evaluated by a State agency or Private sector to determine the Homeless person’s state of mind. These issues should include Mental, Physical, dependency of alcohol, legal prescription and, illegal drugs.

We are the first nonprofit, to design a way to help with the burden of the Homeless in cities, business and homeowners. The idea involves an invitation to the Homeless, to better their self through pride, encouragement, food, shelter, and relaxation for the day, through the word of mouth. We will not force anybody to attend meetings or stop any habit they may have. Our goal is to show it’s possible for them to become a working class member of society if they want it.

Looking for help to land a job requires training. Training requires self confidence, mentally and physically. Self confidence requires knowledge, clothing, appearance, food, housing, transportation and support groups. All help must be located in one place in order for the client to focus.

Sometimes, adjusting back to "normal" life again can bring countless challenges.

Those who live alone, even with a support group are challenge with their own thoughts and, tend to slip back into their old habits, creating a bigger problem with their prescribe medication. What is needed is a way to occupy time, start relating the experience of that day, with another person who has the same interest. We are trained as children to be rewarded by keeping all the rules of the house. As an adult we reward ourselves with pride and, self indulgent. The lack of pride becomes a large competitor in the minds of the Homeless and Disabled when every day is a day of true survival.

We are in need of proper tools to help people get back their “self-respect”. We are in need of a building to hold meetings, soup kitchen, dayroom, thrift store, and transportation.  The true economy belongs to small business.

1.       Executive Summary

In order to for the seasoned Homeless to get off the streets will take a lot of guidance. At this point I am asking to be funded for the start of a Thrift Store. This Thrift Store will give the Homeless only the supplies needed for the season. Success would come from the donations of the People, Storage units, Apartments and (Your Funding) once the Thrift Store is established and making profit to meet the trust of grant organizations to build a large complex that would take the Homeless step by step from living in the streets to finding a job or creating a job for them.

Narrative

A. Organizational History and Purpose

As we stand our organization started with the IRS EIN: on 05-21-2010 RN: 679270-96 Domestic Nonprofit Corporation 04-09-2010. Our activities for now are getting the word out to the Homeless that there is a step by step organization that will help with there needs and growth. We all have a beginning. This will be the first of its kind.

B. Statement of need

As we acquire more Homeless to the streets with very little leaving the streets, that will end up as a territorial conflict. What is needed is a place that can create jobs that will fall under the 501(C) rules and regulation. There are over 3,000 Homeless just in Salem, Oregon.

C. Program Description

Statistics indicate 60%; I believe 90 per cent of the Homeless have a disorder of some sort that keeps them from finding work. I believe every person should have a place of their own to call home, free from City and State Ordnance. I do not consider sleeping on the ground normal, not having a bathroom, nor clean clothing, bathroom or shelter from the elements, Shame on our Society.

D. Evaluation

We are the first nonprofit Corporation, to design a way to help with the burden of the Homeless in cities, business and homeowners.

Self confidence requires knowledge, clothing, appearance, food, housing, transportation and support groups. All help must be located in one place in order for the client to focus. Sometimes, adjusting back to "normal" life again can bring countless challenges. As a Corporation, an umbrella of businesses will be formed to employ the Homeless with the tools needed and training to run a LLC Business with a paid income.

There would be no competition to compete with Reach 4 Salem.

E. Conclusion

Scraps are not enough to put a person back to work. At Reach we have a larger commitment then that of a Charity Thrift Store. Our volunteer staff agrees starting a Charity Thrift Store would be a good start to show our community that, basic needs of the homeless through donations is what a nonprofit is all about. Being homeless is not just a walk in the park or a day at the beach, it is a hard life. Those who choose never to enter back into society are always in need of clothes, shoes, sleeping bags and, underwear for life.

What is needed is a complex that can meet the needs of the Homeless Men and Women. This project would take Community, State and, City plus Grant money to affectively serve the Homeless with Mental, Physical, Medical and addiction issues. We would need the Housing Authority and, Veterans Administration with training. The idea to have a one stop help center is to avoid wasting tax payer’s monies on programs that fail because of no follow-up or group help, therapy, learning and help center’s that is too far for the Homeless to walk.

We estimate 23 million to build this complex that has 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms to house only the Homeless who are ready to return to society, a restaurant that would feed the occupants for free plus the community at normal prices. It would be like an Apartment complex with all the help needed to put the Homeless back to work.

nPresent a concise summary of the project and its most important benefit.

Our main project is to get the Homeless off the streets by becoming Productive with Their Lives. Our second goal is an apartment housing complex, which would include a large 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms for our Temporary job seeking guests. 2. A large kitchen that could feed up to 600 people including the public. 3. Separate offices for drug, alcohol and physiological counselors. 4. Two group help rooms, resource center. 5. The thrift store, housing, therapy, and help all on the same property, is the only way to get the Homeless off the streets. We do not expect all the Homeless people to except the proposal for many reasons such as; hiding, child support, shame, or just not wanting somebody to tell them what to do. Ask yourself, why do you work?
