Work with c:geo developers to re-implement live maps

The Issue

One of the best geocaching apps on Android, c:geo, is free, open source, and is now facing major problems because geocaching.com has taken down the old Google maps. Live maps now do not work on c:geo, and even with a work around, only show the nearest 20 caches after doing a CAPTCHA. Unfortunately, the new maps do not provide easy access to geocaches- a user on a slow connection (such as one camping in the woods) would not want to download maps that are pictures, and have to parse those pictures.

The worst part is, the fix will take 2-6 weeks, and the app will never be the same again. The geocaches on the live map will be off by 50 feet, and the type of caches on the map will be unknown.

It wouldn't be hard for geocaching.com to help c:geo, just reimpliment the data source that was used with old google maps. See here: http://www.cgeo.org/livemap.html

Geocaching's public API is unacceptable for c:geo's use right now, although it would be great if the issues with it could be fixed. See here: http://faq.cgeo.org/#1_21

Also, if Geocaching could work with c:geo delevopers to solve smaller issues, the geocaching world would be a better place. There are some issues with current c:geo, such as having to type in CAPTCHAs for the "nearby caches" feature, and that cachers cannot see the last few logs without loading the entire cache description, that could be solved if geocaching.com changed their server.

Please, hurting an open source project that over 300 thousand people use, out of your 5 million members, is not, and could not be, in anyone's benefit.
