Governor Donald Carcieri of Rhode Island recently vetoed a bill that would have allowed gays and lesbians in the state to plan funeral arrangements for their deceased partners.

Gay people, according to Mr. Carcieri, are too immoral to plan the funerals of the people they share their lives with.

"This bill represents a disturbing trend over the past few years of the incremental erosion
of the principles surrounding traditional marriage, which is not the preferred way to approach this issue," said Gov. Carcieri.

The Republican party has evolved into a definitive non-inclusive, SNOW WHITE (definitely no Colors of Benetton in this political party),  self-serving political entity. Rather than embracing diversity, promoting tolerance, and respecting all taxpaying Americans, Republicans prefer to identify and label certain groups of Americans as threats to our nation and society, and then fiercely fight to deny said Americans their entitled rights, liberties, share of wealth and resources of our nation.

This is the GOP’s last stand (as if Custard were to have been resurrected along with Elijah) to create, maintain and perpetuate a toxic brand of  social apartheid  based solely on Religion-Gone-Wild.

Tell Governor Donald Carcieri, a.k.a. Wannabe-Grand-Wizard-of-Bigotry-and-Hate in the State of Rhode Island that there is no room for such toxicity in our nation.
