Our Father suffered abuse and neglect from his wife while he was dying with cancer. Under current Arkansas Law our only legal option was forcible removable from his wife, which takes time to make it's way through the court system. His wife removed him from the doctors care that diagnosed he was going to live. She kept him out of chemotherapy for eight (8) weeks. Our step mother would either give him too much medication, to the point he just drooled or she wouldn't give him any which kept him in extreme pain all the time. Unfortuanately when you have no idea how much time someone has left, being removed from your parents life while waiting for the court system to make a decision is not acceptable. No one should have to endure abuse or neglect regardless of age or health.This is why we need new laws to protect the elderly and their families.
