Today most Internet providers do not provide NNTP servers. There are some free NNTP servers, but they do not carry many groups. Google is the company which provides free access to the most newsgroups.
Now google wants to force users to use a new, very unfriendly software to access NNTP newsgroup. Lets try to convince google to keep old Google Groups or to improve the new software, so we will have the options we currently have with the old one.
