Polls show that 81% of the American people support cutting defense spending.  This is a sacred cow in both parties in both houses of Congress, and they have refused to bring this to a vote because they are getting their funding from defense contractors.  Please tell Congress that this is unacceptable, and that we the people oppose you the Congress on this issue, and want the money spent on defense to be used for job creation.  We will vote you out of office, at the primary stage if necessary, if you do not vote the way that your constituents want you to.

Cut defense spending or be voted out

Recent polls show that 81% of Americans favor cuts in defense spending, yet a recent Drudge report shows that defense spending has increased by that same percentage since 2001. This is simply unacceptable. The refusal of both Houses of Congress to take this up for a vote is in direct opposition to the will of the people and is flatly unAmerican policy.

We the people are united on this issue, from the progressives at MoveOn to the paleoconservatives at DownsizeDC. We want you to severely curtail defense spending, while you have instead voted to cut the safety net programs that Americans have overwhelmingly voted that you absolutely should not cut.

The will of Congress is diametrically opposed to the will of the American people. This is not democratic, nor is it republican. This is feudalism. This is America, and feudalism is unacceptable. You are elected to represent the will of the people, and instead, you are representing the will of a few defense contracting companies. That is corporatism, which Mussolini said was a better word for fascism.

Eighty-one percent of the American people want you to defund the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya and use that money for job creation in the United States. The only jobs you are creating for us is to be cannon fodder in wars of choice. Again, this is feudalism; however, the way you are elected is not.

We, the American people, demand that you bring defense spending to a vote, and take your chances on being voted out of office if you vote against cuts. We demand that the safety net services for those most in need go unaltered or expanded, and we will not re-elect you if the will of the people is not obeyed.
