There recently have been high level talks on the nuclear question. My take on this is, why do we need a nuclear arsenal? It cost billions of tax dollars to maintain and when are we ever going to use it? Even if some evil despot uses one against us, would we really want to strike back with a nuclear bomb? We would kill innocent civilians - men, woman and children, most of whom probably, at least secretly, hate their leaders. We have powerful non-nuclear weapons that we can use to protect us. Rather than spending money to maintain antiquated weapon systems, we can spend money developing even better weapons that would allow us to take out command centers. The money that we could save would allow us to use our tax dollars to educate, feed, and house our citizens.
