This type of fluoride is toxic and the City staff has suggested removal of fluoride in our water to cut costs as a new $40,000 fluoride tank is needed for next year's budget. The tanks is estimated to last for 20 years. This was in the St. Pete Times, but our Commission has overlooked it and is planning to approve the budget to include fluoride anyway in upcoming Budget Workshops...without public discussion. This is the perfect time to re-address this controversial issue.

Current and historical studies document that non-naturally occurring fluoride water additives cause harmful illness and disease to adults and children. In 1989 the City added fluoride into our water without a citizen vote. In fact only 12 non-dentist residents came out to speak on the topic and 8 of those were opposed to it...it passed and was added anyway due to pressure from Federal Government grant funding deadlines.
