Don't close the Humboldt Park Beach

The Issue

The Humboldt Park Beach is a lagoon situated in Humboldt Park on the west side of Chicago. Every summer, families flock to the beach to enjoy the sun and water. When so many resources are usually poured into wealthier areas of the city, the beach is a lovely little hidden gem for working citizens of Chicago. However, this year, they are threatening to close the beach, apparently without any community input, ideas or attempts to think about ways help save costs. Citizens are having trouble getting any information beyond rumors. This petition asks Mr. Kelly to open the beach as scheduled (May 25th, 2012), and if closure is possible, to get input from the community that lives around the park.
