Deny Fulton Science Academy Charter Renewal Proposal
Deny Fulton Science Academy Charter Renewal Proposal
The Issue
Fulton Science Academy is a charter school funded by taxpayer money. The charter agreement or contract is important, it is the only tool available for the School Board to hold FSA accountable.
The School Board should not approve a charter that requests broad waivers of state and local provisions, a 10 year contract, revised procurement procedures and an ongoing relationship with the Grace Institute, a company led by leaders of Fulton Science Academy for years.
The compliance report dated January 2011 cites governance and transparency issues with Fulton Science Academy. It is important that rules are in place to avoid similar issue in the future.
