Freedom of Marriage

Freedom of Marriage
The Issue
Marriage is a religious concept. The fact that the States are making eligibility requirements for marriage indicates that States are interfering with religious rights, which is contrary to the U.S. Constitution. Any consenting adult, over the age of 18, should not need the States permission to be married. I hereby petition that all eligibility requirements pertaining to marriage for consenting adults, over the age of 18, within each State be made null and void, for the benefit of the freedom of religion within the United States of America. According to the First Amendment, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion". By allowing the States to make eligibility requirements and laws pertaining to marriage for consenting adults over the age of 18, they are directly making law in respect to religions surrounding those beliefs of marriage, therefore restricting the religious beliefs and practices of marriage with all others.
Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
