The Issue

SILVERIO 10 ARE NOT CRIMINALS. THEY ARE VICTIMS OF HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS. THEY MUST BE FREED.

SILVERIO 10 are Johary Smith, Alberto Gallemit, Edwin Bustamante, Dennis Cabunot, Vicente Tiongson, Alex Casanova, Ronel Amor, Melvin Mohana, Mark Gil Borbe and Dick Etrata.  They are ordinary people who stand for their rights for decent homes and decent life.  They work as vendors, construction workers, helper, mechanic, welder and bread winners of their respective families.

They are one of the 33 people who were illegally arrested, tortured and detained during a forced eviction incident in Silverio Compound, San Isidro, Paranaque on April 23, 2012.  On that incident, the local government of Paranaque, Philippine National Police and Special Weapons and Tactics brutality and inhumanely disperse the human barricade of Silverio residents who are defending our homes and livelihood.

One died, martyr  Arnel Leonor and 14 have gunshot wounds from M16 and armalite rifles. Thirty six (36) people including Shella Bernal, President of the Silverio Community Association in Purok 4 and community leaders were charged with resisting arrest, public disturbance and disobedience to persons in authority.
