FREE MARISSA ALEXANDER tell the Florida Police Dept. that a just defense is for all people
The Issue
While George Zimmerman is out on bail, Marissa Alexander faces 20 years in prison for defending herself against someone the police KNEW was abusing her. She had been previously hospitalized, and himself previously jailed for severely beating her. Now she faces 20 years in jail because she was defending her right to live free of abuse. There is a double standard here, and the police department in Florida had NO qualms or delay in putting her in jail, whereas Zimmerman got to spend several weeks free before he got arrested, just to later get bail.
The police department had ALL the evidence to prove that she was being abused and that she was defending herself, whereas there is no substantial evidence that proves that Zimmerman was defending himself. She gets 20 years, and we're still waiting on Zimmerman's sentence.
This is unjust, and we need to help end injustices such as this.

Her husband publicly stated that he told her that, "If she was unfaithful, he would kill her." I guess the police department of Florida thought that was ok.
