The horse racing industry would like you to believe that horses 'love' to jump... But in reality, horses only jump hurdles because they are forced to. Horses are sensitive and intelligent animals, and in nature wouldn't choose to jump over hurdles and risk broken legs, injuries—even death—unless they had no other option. Please take action today and help to end this deadly 'sport'!

Help End Jumps Racing Carnage

Jumps racing is a cruel and dangerous 'sport' in which horses are forced to jump metre-high fences at high speed. It's 10 - 20 times more dangerous to horses than flat racing, and many of the injuries sustained during jumps races can be horrific. As a result, 13 horses died on the track last year, and four horses died within four days this month.

This barbaric 'sport' has already been banned in every state except Victoria and South Australia, with Victorian Racing Minister, Rob Hulls stating last year that the industry was 'on notice.' Sadly that didn't help Hanging Rock, Taken at the Flood, Wool Zone and Shrogginet—who all died recently after suffering horrendous injuries on the track.

Please call on Victorian Minister for Racing, Rob Hulls, and demand that he prevent any more unnecessary deaths by ending jumps racing immediately

I write to express my opposition to jumps racing.

With 20 falls this year and already 4 deaths, jumps Racing cannot be allowed to continue. I am also aware that 13 horses died in jumps racing and Trials in 2008.

Statistics show that there have been more falls in 2009 compared to this time last year – a strong warning that if jumps racing is allowed to continue, there is likely to be more falls and fatalities than 2008, which we all know was the worst year for jumps racing since 2001.

Despite the review and 'safer' changes recommended by Judge Jones, jumps racing is not any safer, demonstrated by the falls and deaths that have occurred over the last week. I urge you to ban jumps racing and in doing so prevent the tragic deaths of further horses.
