On Friday, December 27th, 2013, beloved kindergarten teacher Peggy Howard and her son were killed by a drunk driver. Mrs. Howard was revered by countless students during her 17 years at Steiner Ranch Elementary, and had a lasting impact on more children than she could possibly know. As a former student of (and someone who dearly loved) Mrs. Howard, I would like to ensure her and her son's deaths were not in vain. I invite especially, but not exclusively, former students of Mrs. Howard to sign this pledge vowing to never drive after drinking again, regardless of the circumstances. I hope to draw life-giving inspiration from this apparently futile tragedy.

Mrs. Howard's love will live on in our hearts forever. I am sure she has a special seat in heaven, and will truly be missed. Let us also not forget the importance of forgiveness in situations like these.
