About this Petition Petition Letter

Many have died or have been hurt on the LIRR in the past few years, whether as a suicide or a mistake. If the MTA had put safety as its' #1 concern like they had said in the past, these deaths/injuries could have been prevented. Not only is it cheap to follow through with precautionary measures, but it is also easy. So, sign today to stop more people from being hurt or killed on the LIRR.

Dear MTA,

We, The Customers of the LIRR write to you today to discuss an extremely important issue which has been affecting everyone. Throughout the years, many deaths and injuries have been taking place at various stations. We write to you today, to take action, and put into effect security/safety measures which should have been in effect before. These measures are not expensive, though they do require effort from the MTA. Something as simple as security cameras could be installed, which would remedy the situation. But, the true reason we write to you is the most recent death which has taken place, in North Bellmore NY, of a teen named James Clare. He had died at night, from being hit by a train which did not stop. This could have been prevented if cameras had been installed, and were monitored.
If you do not follow through with safety precautions like you have stated on your web site, not only are you lying to your customers, but you are disregarding your customers as a whole by putting our lives' at risk.

So, We, the Customers of the LIRR sign this petition today, so that further injuries and deaths could be prevented. This petition is not a threat, but an outcry for action.
