before Mother’s Day, this Sunday, May 10th. Our goal is to gather 10,000 petition signatures by Mother's Day.

The Treaty (also known as the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women or “CEDAW” for short) is the most complete international agreement on basic rights for women.

Yet the U.S. is one of only eight countries (including Sudan, Iran and Somalia) who have not yet ratified this important treaty.

Please join us in urging the Senate to take this simple but significant step to help empower women around the world economically, socially, legally and politically without further delay.

Although microfinance is a crucial tool for fighting poverty, it is far more effective in an environment where women’s basic rights are protected and respected.

It is a known fact that families, communities and entire societies benefit when women are empowered. Microfinance efforts have shown again and again that financially empowered women invest in the nutritional, health and educational needs of their children, helping to permanently lift their families and communities out of poverty.
