The Cajundome in Lafayette, LA hosts many fun, family-friendly events throughout the year, including events specifically for children. At these events, the concession area serves peanut products, including shelled peanuts. Unfortunately, there is an accelerated rate at which children are developing anaphylactic peanut/nut allergies. When cracked, shelled peanuts have a higher risk of leaving residue on the seats, potentially causing a skin-contact reaction for a peanut allergic child who may sit there next. Also, cracked peanuts pose a risk for a child with peanut allergies to have an airborne allergic reaction.

Please help to encourage a safe environment for children with potentially life threatening peanut/nut allergies. Since there are plenty of alternatives to serving peanut snacks, we are just asking that the Cajundome consider the children who cannot attend these events comfortably due to the health risks involved.
