VOTE NO! to HB 7091, especially the portion eliminating the insurance mandate requiring HMO’s to cover services related to cleft lip and palate!

Please, please, help us save cleft and craniofacial programs in Florida! I am asking that you help us reinstate the budget support for cleft lip and palate centers and clinics to help with their ongoing management of these patients and assistance to these families.

Please, please, preserve the insurance mandate that since 1997 has required all health insurance carriers in Florida to cover these patients from birth until adulthood, so they can have access to the services they need for fullest habilitation—these include surgical, dental, orthodontic, speech, feeding, audiology, nursing, psychological, pediatric and other services.

MY SON, Jake, was born with cleft lip and palate. He has undergone SEVERAL major surgeries resulting in an almost normal child who is now extremely verbal and who is a joy to watch talking and smiling and just mingling around with children his age. These provisions make such a big difference in the lives of children born with facial differences. Please stop punishing poor families that are struggling to do good by their kids?????

Please, do good for the people and not the corporations. You need to help save this program!
