Put Power Lines Underground Instead Of On Poles

Put Power Lines Underground Instead Of On Poles
The Issue
Putting power lines underground instead of on poles will eliminate the dangers, inconvenience and economic losses of hundreds of thousands of people being without power when the poles and lines are downed by snow, ice, wind and other frequently recurring natural conditions. In addition, the unsightly poles and wires will be eliminated from ruining the view of much of our natural scenery.
Hundreds of thousands of jobs will likely be created by such a program of undergrounding as well as an increase in manufacturing in the USA.
There is a tax exempt not for profit seeking to raise money to increase awareness of the issue - www.powerunderground.org
Power Underground, Inc., has recently reached agreement with The Massachusetts Institute Of Technology for MIT, with funding from Power Underground, to undertake comprehensive, independent, unbiased research to determine the real cost of undergrounding (balanced aginst the recurring costs of calling crews in from far and wide to restore poles, wires and transformers after storms), the number of jobs, both direct and indirect (that is, jobs doing the work of undergrounding as well as jobs created at manufacturers of construction equipment, cables, transformers and similar items), the increased dependability, reliability and security of an underground system (including national security) and the improvement in the visual environment.
Power Underground needs contributions to pay for this research. Please donate at www.powerunderground.org
Contributions are tax deductible.
