UPDATE: Victory!

The Prosecutor of the State of Ceará (Ministério Público do Estado do Ceará) has stated that the case was brought before a judge and that the city of Cascavel has initiated a reform of the public slaughterhouse. They have taken action to modernize the slaughterhouse and pledged to implement all the proposals made by the Regional Council of Veterinary Medicine of Ceará. All slaughter activities have been suspended during the construction period.

Gruesome scenes of animal cruelty in the Municipal Slaughterhouse in Cascavel show animals being bludgeoned to death.

An investigation of the slaughter of cattle held in the abattoir of Cascavel, prompted by the International Union for the Protection of Animals (UIPA), Ceara, has revealed that animals are killed by blows from a sledgehammer.

This is not the first time that irregularities have been reported and the establishment has remained untouched until now.
