Extend Deferred Enforced Departure for Liberians Today!

The Issue

Send the message that you support the immediate extension of Deferred Enforced Departure for Liberians before status expires on March 31, 2009.  

The President has the authority to extend DED for Liberians for another 18 months. Without the extension of DED, Liberians who have lived lawfully in the U.S. since 1991 may be expelled to a country that is not yet ready for them.

I've worked with asylum seekers, represented immigrant detainees, worked on human rights reporting, and been part of the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission Diaspora team here at The Advocates. I also chair the Detention Watch Network, working for justice for immigrant detainees.
