Take Action!
In addition to this good legislation on primates as pets, I would be very interested in this concept being extended to include all exotic cats.

Please contact your Senator today! Just last month, a 55 year old woman in Connecticut was severely mauled by a 200+ pound chimpanzee that was kept as a pet by her friend. Police were called, and the chimp then attacked an officer. Why do people insist on keeping exotic animals as pets when their attacks can be so brutal and life-threatening? That's where we need your help. Please use the form below to write your senators about the The Captive Primate Safety Act of 2009 (H.R. 80 / S. 462) which prohibits interstate and foreign commerce in primates as pets. This legislation recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives and now awaits action in the Senate.

http://capwiz.com/bigcatrescue/issues/alert/?alertid=12962886&queueid=[capwiz:queue_id]

Exotic Animals Need your Help

The February, 2009 incident in which a woman was severely mauled by a chimpanzee in Connecticut is the most recent example of how dangerous these animals can be. Primates are wild animals and are not meant to be kept in homes as pets. As wild animals, they have the capability of inflicting serious injuries, often without warning. Owners have no way to contain the animal once an attack starts. Additionally, law enforcement and medical personnel are often put in immediate danger by responding to the owners call for help. It is a dangerous situation that can most certainly be prevented with strong legislation.

In addition to this good legislation on primates as pets, I would be very interested in this concept being extended to include all exotic cats.

http://capwiz.com/bigcatrescue/issues/alert/?alertid=12962886&queueid=[capwiz:queue_id]
