Save European citizens' money, keep your energy promises!

The Issue

Some governments in Europe, are pushing the whole of Europe to make decisions that will waste European citizens' money and harm their welfare and the environment.

Six governments, the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Poland are especially standing in the way of net financial savings of 200 billion Euros per year (by 2020); the creation of hundreds of thousands of new jobs in the construction, technology and energy services industries; increased competitiveness for European businesses, and significant reductions in our ever-growing dependence on unsustainable foreign fossil fuel imports.

They are doing this by watering down every part of a draft European law that is intended to help European countries meet their official target of cutting energy use by 20% by 2020.

On June 13, a key meeting will take place between the European Parliament and European governments which will determine the shape of the new law. Over the course of the next five days, European governments have a chance to change course and agree to negotiate a law that delivers benefits and savings rather than continued waste.

Tell the European government to unlock the benefits that lie in a strong energy saving law by keeping the 20% promise and agreeing to binding energy saving targets! Sign the petition addressed to all European Energy Ministers.
