ESPN & Fox Sports: Air the Blood & Thunder 2014 Roller Derby World Cup

The Issue

Roller Derby is the fastest growing sport today with well over 1500 Amature Leagues World Wide! Modern roller derby is an international sport (including the UK, Austrailia, Mexico, Egypt, Canada, Russia and it still continues to spread) dominated by all-female amateur teams, in addition to a growing number of male, co-ed, and junior roller derby teams, and was (as a roller sport) under consideration for the 2020 Olympics. Most modern leagues (their back-office volunteers included) share a strong "do it yourself" ethic which combines athleticism and elements from camp, and third-wave feminist aesthetics. As of 2012 the Women's Flat Track Derby Association, or WFTDA, had 172 leagues.

Most players in these leagues skate under pseudonyms, also called "derby names" or "skater names," many of which are creative examples of word play with satirical, mock-violent or sexual puns, alliteration, and allusions to pop culture, some of which are the subject of some controversy. [Thank you Wikipedia]

So I am asking everyone who supports and loves this sport to tell ESPN to consider airing the 2014 Roller Derby World Cup which will be sponsored by Blood and Thunder Magazine that will be hosted in Dallas, Texas next November! Together our Derby Community can move mountains and well if we work together we can get ESPN to look at Roller Derby as legitimate sport that will rock everyone's socks off!
