On November 8, Equality California announced their early endorsements for State Assembly and Senate Races. In Assembly District 50, which spans from West Hollywood and Malibu, EQCA endorsed Betsy Butler, who must move into the district to run in June.

Two qualified LGBT candidates have also filed to run for the seat--Democrat Torie Osborn and Republican West Hollywood Commissioner Brad Torgan. EQCA interviewed neither Osborn nor Torgan for their endorsement.

Change on behalf of LGBT rights begins when we elect LGBT people to office, and either Osborn or Torgan would be invaluable members of their caucus for our freedom and equality.

Although we acknowledge Butler's record as a straight ally, we ask Equality California to make a triple-endorsement and also extend their support to the two viable LGBT candidates in the race.
