Why This Is Important

A bill is making the rounds to limit state secrets and thus the legacy of the Bush Administration. However, the Obama Administration today showed that they have no intention of following through on this promise.

In Mohamed et al v Jeppesen Dataplan, Inc., 5 individuals suing the subsidiary of Boeing (Jeppesen) which had arranged the Bush administration's rendition program, under which those 5 plaintiffs had been abducted, sent to other countries and brutally tortured. The Department of Justice yesterday made a statement that the Obama administration is going to contine the Bush administration's stance of this subject remaining a state secret.

We were promised the truth and the end of politics as usual. That Obama wishes to carry over any stance from the Bush administration related to torture is shocking and unacceptable.

We the undersigned want the Obama administration to hold to his promise to end state secrets.
