Don't close the Empire Theatre’s downtown movie theatre in Kingston, ON.

Don't close the Empire Theatre’s downtown movie theatre in Kingston, ON.
The Issue
We enjoy the Capitol 7 as it is because it represents our vision of a healthy, diverse downtown community;
The theatre contributes greatly to the vitality of our downtown. The economic spin-off from the theatre helps sustain downtown restaurants and businesses. It also brings people into the downtown core thereby contributing to overall public safety in the area;
A downtown cinema is in keeping with Kingston’s Sustainability Plan;
The theatre provides an accessible movie going experience for those of us who do not own cars or simply do not want to drive in order to see a movie;
If Empire Theatre maintains the decision to close the Capitol 7, we ask that the “no competition” clause be removed. This clause will prohibit another theatre company from purchasing the site. We believe this IS AN unethical restriction, GOING AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF FREE COMPETITION.
