Gov. Dave Heineman (R-NE), who supposedly has a "pro-life administration," is threatening to veto a bill that would continue Nebraska's long-standing policy of providing prenatal care to those in need.
He feels it's better to sacrifice babies to immigration politics than provide state-funded prenatal care to low-income undocumented mothers.
Lack of prenatal care leads to a slew of problems when a baby is born -- so this will make the start of life a struggle against death and illness. Furthermore, taxpayers will have to pay more to fix this than it would have cost to prevent these health issues in the first place.
The legislation has been supported by health professionals, pro-life groups, and religious organizations alike, but Heineman is threatening a veto.
Tell Gov. Heineman to stop sacrificing newborns' health and take a real pro-life stance by supporting the provision of prenatal care to women in need, and promising that when the bill passes the legislature, he will sign it into law.

Support LB1110: Don't Sacrifice Newborns' Health
Gov. Heineman,
Your opposition to legislative bill 1110, which would continue the provision of state-funded prenatal care to all low-income women sacrifices infants to a political game.
Nebraska Catholic Conference Executive Director Jim Cunnngham has said: "This is not an immigration issue; it's a pro-life issue." The Nebraska Right to Life, which unanimously voted to support the bill, states, "We want to assure that innocent, unborn children will receive prenatal services."
Denying prenatal health care to low-income undocumented women in need prioritizes political games around immigration policy over the well-being of babies. The lack of prenatal care leads to a slew of problems in newborns, making their birth and even more difficult struggle for life and health.
Furthermore, taxpayers will end up paying far more to fix the health problems of these newborns than it would have cost to prevent them from occurring with adequate prenatal care. This is a lose-lose situation for everybody.
Rethink your stance on this pro-life, pro-health, pro-children bill, and make it clear that if and when it passes the state legislature, it will have your signature.
