In January, North Carolina state trooper Shawn Houston lost his job after being found guilty of cruelty to animals and damage to real property. The previous October, Houston had caught a locally-owned kitten, five month old Rowdy, in a trap. When the frightened kitten hissed and tried to scratch the state trooper, Houston apparently felt extremely threatened. He decided that the appropriate course of action was to shoot the caged kitten.

Now Houston, whose only other penalty was to pay court costs, feels he should have his job back.

 I ask that anyone else who feels this man deserves more of a penalty sign this petition against his reinstatement. If you feel that Houston cannot handle a job in which he has a gun, please sign this petition. If you are repulsed by the idea of this man having any position of authority or ever being around your animals, please sign this petition.

Choose Justice; Don't Allow Shawn Houston His Have His Job Back

To Whom it May Concern:

In January, former state trooper Shawn Houston lost his job after he was found guilty of cruelty to animals and damage of real property. Mr. Houston had shot and killed an owned kitten who was in a trap at the time, because the kitten hissed at him. He now claims that he was concerned that the kitten had rabies or another disease. This is no justification. Not only was the kitten in a cage where he did not pose a threat, but if there were the possibility of such a disease in the area, wouldn't it have been more prudent to take the kitten to a veterinarian rather than just shoot him?

The loss of his job was the only punishment Mr. Houston received. He now feels that he ought to be given his job back.

I ask that you do anything in your power to stop Mr. Houston from winning this fight. If you are not completely convinced that Mr, Houston lacks the responsibility to hold a position of power, please ask yourselves whether you would want this man around your pets.

Please, protect your constituents from men like Shawn Houston.
