Do Something to Help Small Farms.
Do Something to Help Small Farms.
The Issue
Small farms have economically driven the economy through many stanzis such as feeding the people of out nation, and in most recent news of many other nations while doing so at a minimal price. As such many farmers are going out of business especially during these sad times of economic depression. Large companies are taking over the food business slowly and as such are also drowning out small businesses which provide meager incomes for themselves by providing food services to the communities they live in. Most recently and all too frequently the food service industry of small business farming has been receiving little to no payment through the inevitable stock market of raising pigs and/or cows, turkeys, livestock of other kinds as well as plants such as corn, hay, and soybeans. The rising cost of feeding the animals and providing proper care of the plants through fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides had driven farming into a high risk investment despite the many long hours the average farmer puts in. If we want to have food stay at such low prices whiles similarly keeping farmers in business there needs to be something done in order to make it happen. My family itself just recently sold hogs at market to be reduced to the price of barely reaching enough of a financial dividend to pay for the feed, heat, medication, and electricity to pay for the raising of the hogs for the past lifetime of the hogs.
This does not bode well for investment making and generally good farming folks are being driven into debt by the good nature of providing sustenance to the people. I believe that with government incentive and support; the people in general can insure their own existence in such a market, and as all people know we should not be made to feel insufficiently accounted for in general in such a matter. We have two options. we can gamble our way through this and guarantee a new way of handling pigs and such in a new manner, or we can guarantee a higher price in produce in general which will not bode well in a struggling economy.
With a small financial incentive on a federal level and a smaller local investment we can change things in the food market industry to keep the food prices low, and also keep the price of food which we need at a minimal.
Thank You.
