Re-Open Access to Climbing at Mokuleia

The Issue

In June of 2012 the DLNR closed the most significant climbing area on Oahu in reaction to an accident. Given that Mokuleia is the highest quality climbing area on the Island, is relied upon by local and visiting climbers alike, is maintained voluntarily and has had few accidents in its 20 year existence, the reaction of the DLNR is excessive and should be rescinded. We are asking that the DLNR restore access to Mokuleia to climbers. Climbers in turn seek to be involved in the rule making procedures that will ensure long term access to public lands for hiking and climbing well into the future.
