About this Petition Petition Letter

I was injured on the job in 1997.  It took 3 years of surgery to find out that I couldn't go back to the job I loved. I was retrained into a job that I can't do, and have been trying to make that work for the last few years, but can't seem to keep a job for more than a couple of months because my spine is continually getting worse.  My wife and I have lived in a small travel trailer for a couple of months with our 2 kids and 2 dogs, lost our home, 2 cars, now I've lost my wife and family, etc.  I am wondering why, after serving my country in the Army, then going out, finding work, trying to live the American Dream, as President Obama so likes to call it, why is it that I am forced to live below the poverty level, on SSI, while you sit there pumping money into these companies that arent' doing anyone any good at all, why can't you pump some money into the PEOPLE of this country, and not $300.00, or even 1200.00, but real money, something that will really affect their lives,  so that they can pick themselves up off the poverty line.  I can't see how you can live with yourself, Mr. Obama.  I hear your words but see no meaning behind them, just a lot of rhetoric, playing the game.

There are a lot of disabled people out here who are tired of living on a shoestring.&nbsp; We want to be heard.&nbsp; While you sit there, waiting to receive your lifelong pension of over 100000.00 a year, with full medical benifits, etc., we are starving.&nbsp; How can it be that you can pay yourselves all that money?&nbsp; I help pay your salaries, yet I am now starving, with no where to call my home?&nbsp; How can this be, your handing out billions and billions to companies who will never let that trickle back to the people?&nbsp; What about us?&nbsp; I get less than 1200 a month on ssi, nothing else.&nbsp; I can't even qualify for anything else because I am white and single!!&nbsp; What about us, who have sacrificed everything to help build this country into what it is, this is the thanks we get?&nbsp; I would love to testify before congress, the house, any of you who would listen, because something needs, no <strong>has</strong> to be done!!&nbsp; Please help us!!
