City of Miami Beach and Design Review Board: Stop the demolition of 42 Star Island, a 1925 landmark of Miami Beach
The Issue
On Tuesday, February 5th 2013, the Design Review Board of Miami Beach will hear an application to demolish one of the most iconic historic homes in Miami Beach. Built in 1924 for CE Fowler, this mansion has stood the test of time for nearly 100 years.
The current owners, real estate investors who purchased the home in a foreclosure, are seeking to demolish the existing home and replace it with a megamansion. Details of the new plan can be found here: http://miami.curbed.com/archives/2012/11/29/42-star-island-drive.php
We are against the demolition and we ask the Design Review Board of Miami Beach to deny the application. We also ask the Planning Department to work on ways to help ensure the historic legacy of our residential neighborhoods is maintained for future generations of residents and visitors.
