Demand Westin St. Francis Hotel Grant Employees Fair Contract and Affordable Healthcare
The Issue
According to San Francisco Pride at Work, more than 9,000 San Francisco hotel workers have been working without a contract since mid-August 2009, with many of these workers being forced to pay exorbitant prices for healthcare.
Labor rights groups, gay rights groups, and economic justice groups have been trying to work with these hotels to provide fair contracts and affordable healthcare for their employees, but so far these hotels haven't budged. Now, workers at these various San Francisco hotels are calling for boycotts and action.
One such action targeted the Westin St. Francis hotel in San Francisco, where a flash mob took over the lobby calling for the Westin St. Francis to step up and show other hotels in the region how to take care of workers. Send a message to the Westin St. Francis now, calling for the hotel to take action now to make sure its workers have a fair contract and affordable health care.
