Demand Truth in Egg Labeling

Demand Truth in Egg Labeling
The Issue
As consumers learn more about the inhumane, unsanitary conditions at factory farms, they no longer want to support the industry. Polls have shown that people are willing to pay more for products from animals who were humanely raised, and the agriculture industry has taken advantage of that.
If you look in the refrigerated section at your supermarket, you'll see packages with labels like "natural," "organic," "free range," "cage free," and even "animal-friendly" ... yet 95 percent of the eggs sold in the U.S. come from hens crammed in battery cages.
Tell the Food and Drug Administration to require full disclosure on egg cartons, including a label for "eggs from caged hens," and to set meaningful standards for terms like "cage free" and "free range."
If the factory farm industry truly believes they have nothing to hide, they shouldn't have a problem with greater transparency.
