Even SEVEN years after the debacle in Florida, the integrity of our voting system is still at risk in the upcoming election. Many of the machines purchased to address the original problems have only made matters worse. We will never know how many votes have been lost or stolen due to unreliable and unverifiable electronic voting machines.
We can still do something about it - but time is running out! A bill with 222 sponsors has passed committee but has not been voted on by the full House. This bill would require paper records for every vote cast and would require random, routine audits to make sure your ballot was counted correctly.
Urge your Representative to call for a vote on HR 811, The Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2007.
Provide Reliable Voting Machines! (Vote â??YESâ? on HR 811)
Dear Representative,
Our democracy is once again being threatened by unreliable voting machines. It is unacceptable that SEVEN years after the debacle in Florda we still haven't figured out how to ensure every vote is counted. Electronic systems that are vulnerable to hacks and do not provide paper records put the integrity of the entire electoral process at risk.
Bring HR 811 to the floor and VOTE YES. Rep. Holt's legislation will require voter verified paper records of ballots cast, as well as random audits of electronic voting machines.
Demonstrate some leadership and help protect our fundamental right to have our votes counted.
