Save Fernbank Science Center

Save Fernbank Science Center
The Issue
According to the DeKalb County Schools' website, their mission is to "maximize students'...academic potential preparing them to compete in a global society." Sadly, the board is looking to possibly close Fernbank Science Center, threatening students' access to a wide range of educational opportunities in the sciences.
Fernbank Science Center's innovative Scientific Tools and Techniques (STT) program, which immerses 9th grade students in challenging, hands-on work in a variety of scientific fields, including Physics and Chemistry, could get the ax in these cuts.
According to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution report, "the building and its 56 full-time employees now are looking like a luxury to school officials."

Among the 56 employees at Fernbank, are those who run the STT program--scientists with advanced degrees in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology and other scientific fields.
Our children's future--our nation's future--depends on a firm foundation in science and technology. Let's not rob our children of every opportunity to compete in our global economy.
Let's save Fernbank Science Center and its valuable educational programming.
