Dan Savage is an outspoken and publicly visible member of the LGBTQ community. He started the "It Gets Better" project and yet his anti-trans language continues to alienate and ridicule the most vulnerable members of our community. By using words like "she-male" and "tranny" he is sending a message that it's ok to use these terms when it is not.

Dan needs to understand that for it to "get better" for everyone in the LGBTQ community that people like him need to lead the way in promoting understanding and change, not contribute to continued transphobia. Dan needs to not only apologize for using terms like these but also commit to not using them again.
