This health funding, held up for a year, has millions in key prevention funding for NY State, particularly diabetes prevention. Preventing chronic disease is much more cost effective so holding this up is costing millions as well as lots of unnecessary hospitalization. We are in the South Bronx and we have trained to become very effective diabetes prevention educators but we can't get started if waiver funds aren't released promptly!
