Ban the Single Use Grocery Plastic Bag
The Issue
Mission
Together, we can make a difference.
Background
The disturbance of plastic bags to the ocean is serious. A mass of trash TWICE THE SIZE OF TEXAS is floating in the Pacific, and kills millions of birds and marine animals every year. The 12 billion plastic bags used by Californians every year are harming our marine life, degrading our coastline, threatening human health, and jeopardizing California's economy. The truth is that nothing we use for a few minutes should pollute our ocean for hundreds of years. Please make Cupertino the next place to protect the Pacific by banning single-use plastic bags.
Campaign So Far
Cities including San Jose, Sunnyvale, Los Angeles and Long Beach have already banned plastic shopping bags in support of improving environmental sustainability. We are now working on banning bags in Riverside and Cupertino; our campaign is getting more attention from the public and is supported by many local businesses such as Trader Joe's, Monta Vista Market, Oakmont Market and Ranch 99 Supermarket. We need you for this initiative to succeed, so sign the petition today or partner with us as we push forward.
