I am a volunteer at the Griffon Pond Humane Society in Waverly, PA. This shelter is unmanaged and no one cares about the animals there. They have fundraisers to help them get out of a $200,000 debt and none of the workers or managers of this facility show up. One animal in particular was put to sleep recently, her name was Sia. When I asked them where she was they said she had cancer and was put to sleep. A couple more people asked, that I have been in contact with, and the staff members told them that "she bit someone and was put to sleep, "transfered to a mastiff shelter for better care". We are not told the truth here and everyone should know this. These animals are taken care of and they need a new business structure at this facility.

I have come into contact with plenty of past employees as well as volunteers at this facility. No on was able to vouch for this shelter as a "Humane Society".  One lady that I talked to told me that the woman who puts these animals to sleep does not even do it right. She makes it painful and she said she loves her job for doing that. Everytime I go there I have a problem with the staff, they are unsupportive of these animals and they act like they care but once you leave they are neglected. Most of these dogs are skinny and if you visit them on the weekends there cages are not cleaned until the upcoming week.

I concur with everyone that I have come in contact with about the negativity of this shelter and they need to have an expert come in to take over. Some needs to stop the cruelty of animals and this is a start. I get depressed when I leave the shelter because I know there's something more that I can do for them and I hope this starts a great begining for these animals. These animals do deserve another chance at a great household and how can they experience this if they are just being put to sleep before there time is up?
