This petition calls for justice for Molly, an 18-month old German Shepherd-cross, who is alive against all odds after being rescued in one of the most horrific animal cruelty cases the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) says it has ever witnessed. Molly was rescued on the Fort Rupert Reserve near Port Hardy, British Columbia on November 25, 2013, where she was found "near death on the owner's porch, in critical condition, non-responsive and shivering, with a collar deeply embedded in her neck," says Marcie Moriarty, the BC SPCA's chief prevention and enforcement officer. The BC SPCA recommended charges against Molly's former owners, which were subsequently approved by Crown Counsel on January 13, 2014. Charged are Rupert James Wilson and Crystal Dawn Bee.

THE PETITION:
This petition requests that Crown Counsel proceed with charges as recommended and that, if someone is convicted of causing this horrible cruelty to Molly, Crown Counsel recommend, and the judge apply, the maximum sentence available for the animal cruelty charge(s), including a lifetime ban on owning animals in accordance with the relevant legislation. The petition also requests that, if someone is convicted, the court order the person(s) to pay to the SPCA the amount expended on Molly's rehabilitation.
