The United Nations recent decision to have short-term economic values triumph over moral principles is outrageous & ignorant. The US-sponsored bill was defeated by industrial interests. We must think long term consequences, not only short term! Our natural resources are at stake! Our survival and existence are also on the line. This is an economic issues as well as a moral issue!

Overfishing is the dreadful reality which causes major disruption of processing (natural) resources. We must address this major issue in the present. Time is against us, but we can change that with responsible action now not later. We and our future generations will suffer from great loss with inaction.

Our responsibility is to secure our limited supply of all our important resources.

Industry may have won the battle for now; however the result is a lose-lose situation for everyone! With current norms, our economy which depends on our environment is also in danger from irresponsible practices. We have an opportunity to adapt our policies to protect & secure our economy & our environment. Both economic & moral values compliment each other, so they are necessary to combine to positively impact our world.

The next approach for environmentally concerned citizens is to revise the bill to provide real alternatives to the current economic system.

We are optimistic, hopeful, confident and realistic about our future & humanity. We can improve environmental conditions, but we need a strong unified coalition and cooperation from the international community. We need individual responsibly responsive leaders to organize the public's willingness and support for our environment.
