Despite the resistance from some of the MFA establishment, the controversial P&W rankings have been an invaluable resource for MFA applicants ever since they were first published by P&W. Information on the various programs throughout the country, before the rankings, was almost impossible for a single person to accumulate. The rankings collect much of that data into a single resource that has increased potential applicants' access to information in astounding measure. To lose this resource would be an incredible blow to potential applicants all over the country.
