The Obama Administration is backtracking on campaign pledges to be more transparent. The Justice Department has asked the Federal 9th District Court not to try an ACLU suit on "extraordinary rendition" because that would reveal "state secrets."  This self-serving Justice Department claim is disgraceful! The CIA's past use of illegally obtaining information by torture is no secret.  We must stop genocide by torture, globally; and this would be a step in that dirtection.  The State Secrets Protection Act, bills H.R.984 and S.417, would narrow the scope of the much abused "state secrets" privilege.
