For years Congress has said and most agree, that Social Security and Medicare are starving for funds and could disappear for the grandchildren of each decade they speak of; yet to "help" people with larger paychecks this "law" further debilitates these "entitlements"! Most lower middle-class people I know were not aware that the funds were reduced and the percentage is so small it does not provide much in the way of food or housing expense nor does it stimulate our economy; all the while breaking SS and Medicare. As for Medicare it has remained at 1.45% while medical costs skyrocket. Regardless of the wish to increase efficiency in the system 1.45% of wages for decades has created a huge tilt of the scale of spending vs. funding!
