Through this petition, we, the Punjabi NRI community in North America, seek justice for and the release of Mr. Sukhi Singh Chahal from the custody of Punjab Police.

It is evident that there are false charges being levied against him and he is being harassed by authorities in Punjab. As fellow NRI's we strongly condemn this treatment towards him and demand his immediate release.

It is unfortunate that a well respected Punjabi Community member who has contributed so much to Punjab is subjected to harassment and is falsely charged with being a terrorist, just because he exercised his right of freedom of speech.

This kind of unjust treatment discourages any NRI from coming to India or contributing in any way.
